One of Microsoft's most popular operating systems, Windows XP was released in October 2001. Unlike most operating systems that are updated with each subsequent release, this one is supposed to remain current until 2023. It has an installed base of around 500 million computers all around the world, making it one of the most popular Windows versions ever created. Windows XP is best known for its speed and security, with features like TrueType font rendering, Internet Explorer 6+, MP3 support in older versions of Windows Media Player, and 32-bit support that allowed you to use more memory on your computer. Even with age comes improvement. With the release of Windows XP, users were able to download office productivity suites to make their computer seem more like a business computer. To ensure that everyone could use it, the XP comes with a multitude of languages and dialects, including English, French, German, Japanese and Russian. In spite of its popularity and general smoothness, Windows XP did have a few problems when it was released. The biggest issue that Microsoft faced in the past was with security. Due to older versions of Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer being used for productivity purposes in corporations and government institutions around the world, many people had outdated versions of their software which didn't play nicely with Windows XP's new features such as Enhanced Security. This problem was exacerbated after Microsoft released Service Pack 2, which fixed many known exploit vulnerabilities but introduced 29 new security and stability issues. The Windows XP installer is the same as previous versions of Windows, and can be used to install a system without any customer input. However, to customize the system and install any additional software that requires an installation CD or DVD, or to create a custom setup that sets up an entire workgroup with all the required drivers installed on the hard drive, you must use either of these two options: Windows XP Professional can be installed on hard drive partitions formatted using either NTFS file system or FAT32 file system. FAT32 file system has limitations that cannot be overcome by Windows XP Professional, and should not be used for hard drive partitions larger than 8GB. If you want NTFS formatting, the partition must be at least 32MB in size. The setup you are using has to have a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive in order to install Windows XP on your computer if the hard drive is larger than 8GB or if Windows Setup is unable to detect any hard drives. The setup disc also includes Service Pack Setup, which allows you to upgrade your system to Service Pack 2 after installation. First of all, you need a computer with CD/DVD-ROM access. You also need your Windows XP Professional disk, which you can get from Microsoft's website. It is recommended that you make a full backup of any data on your computer before you start to install Windows XP. If something goes wrong, or if there are problems with your installation CD, you will be able to back up the data on the computer and use it again if necessary. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart your computer. The first thing that will appear onscreen is usually a boot menu with options including "Enter Setup", "Boot from Disk", "Boot from LAN" etc., depending on how many drives are available for booting. cfa1e77820
